Welcome to AntiqueRadio.NET!
« on: January 06, 2011, 11:23:39 PM »
Welcome to our forum!  This is one of two forums that we are simultaneously launching to accompany our VintageRadio.com website.  VintageRadio.com is a vintage radio and electronics classified advertising and, perhaps more importantly, an information site with over 1,550 antique radio related links with Thumbshot previews and an extensive radio events calendar.  We hope for it and these two forums to be part of and of use to the radio collecting family.

AntiqueRadio.net, is a traditional antique radio forum with at least one unique board feature: We'll be glad to set up a section for any radio (or related) club that wants a section to discuss topics related to their club.

We believe Transistorized.com, our other forum, to be somewhat unique.  I don't know of any other 'Vintage Modern Radio & Electronics' forums, at least!  There are a few forums that cover a little bit of the subject matter here but not all of it and, for some categories, none of it.  If you collect transistor radios, calculators, digital watches or clocks, computing equipment, transistors (the component), or even cellphones or pocket games, you have a net home here!

Both of these forums are technically advanced with many features that you won't find on similar forums.  Features include audio and video posting capabilities from services such as You Tube, mobile phone viewing capabilities, easy footnoting for historical posts, 'solved issue' checkmarks for technical issues, and lots of little extras such as spell checking, post previews (so you don't have to open something that you're really not interested in!), and collapsible new post and topic sidebar lists as well.

We are very open to suggestions!  We want all of these sites to be of use to you.  They are new so it is easy to mold them to your desires and to offer unique, niche (and major) features that may be missing elsewhere.

Please do remember: This is a group effort!  Please don't wait for several hundred posts on any of these sites.  You are the motivator!  Jump in and start a thread.  It may be a little lonely a first but this is not a spectator sport.  We need your participation!  We want the term 'our forum' and 'our website' to include you!

Thanks for looking (and please start a thread)!  :)

Hello from a radio old-timer.  My first job was also my first radio job, at age 14 - hired for summer 1950 to organize the record library at WMTR, a new station in my hometown, Morristown NJ.  Before summer was out I did DJ work, rode board in and out of studios, set up remotes, helped announce & cover County Fair, and did finish filing the stacks of records (still mainly 78s).
I went 30 years to FOTR conventions, many on the Committee, did Publicity & News Releases.  I've met and written about many of the true old-timers who are no longer with us.  Also was in radio & early TV off and on most of my years, now numbering 76.
Because I collected for 60 years or more I'm now disposing of my collection, which includes magazines, photographs, records, ETs, and much more - but not actual radio sets.  I wonder if anyone can tell me of 'blogs' or whatever such places are called, where I can inform and direct people about my eBay offerings.  I know of Mechanical Music Digest and 78-C, both of which list notices of such offerings.  I'm looking for similar vehicles for early radio and TV, and motion pictures. Many thanks!  Lee Munsick, Vero Beach FL, Email verotas25@gmail.com
